Choosing Stretch Fabrics for Yoga Wear

For yoga apparel, a composition label is only the start of material selection. The feel and behavior of a finished garment also need to be checked against its design. Wu Luen offers nylon-spandex and polyester-spandex fabrics for yoga wear development.

What Should You Check Before Choosing a Fabric?

• Movement: define the stretch direction and recovery your garment requires. A higher spandex percentage does not by itself prove a better fit.
• Coverage: for leggings or other close-fitting designs, assess opacity in the intended color and under the stretch conditions expected in use.
• Feel: review the fabric surface, weight and hand feel against the experience you want for the wearer.
